the doctor is in!

i have ALWAYS loved doc martens - i remember getting my first pair when i was 10 years old in London. at the time, my three brothers and i all donned them, stomping around like combat kids. but alas, they disappeared from the scene long enough that i must have ridded of them at one time or another. which is too bad, because I've been strutting around on the same size "skis" (W9) since i was about that age (no joke)!

but they have returned! i swear! if you don't believe me, check out this article from vancouver's sun:

thus far, i have purchased the classic 8 hole boots in black, and a wicked pair of sandal-coloured suede dock shoes (which i rocked all spring 2011) - both are pictured below:

i am also loving these leather dock shoes, perhaps they will be joining the family soon?

el caminooooh god i love it.

the black keys have just released their latest album, el camino, and it is fucking wicked. here's a nice little review:

i think "run right back" is so far my favourite track on the album.

here is a (albeit poor quality) clip of my first of (hopefully) many front-row black keys shows. it was a bizarre combination of tears and turn-on (July 11th at montreal's bell centre):

birds of a feather

my girlfriends and i have plans to get feather tattoos. two of them have already followed through, however i am still debating tattoo placement. thus far, i only have one tattoo that is visible if i am wearing workplace-friendly attire, but the forearm feather is just so appealing:

however, i also find this next one (placement-wise) beautiful, and probably a safer choice for a careerless student:

one of my favourite days

i spent my summer in montreal, living in residence at the universite de montreal. during the last week, a guitarist wearing only his boxers would appear in the courtyard below my bedroom, and serenade the sleeping students. we met him one day in parc la fontaine, where he joined my friend ava in a rendition of summertime. this was one of my favourite days.

what happens in the winter?
